Shock


Shock may occur after severe injury, extreme fright or prolonged illness. Symptons include rapid but weak pulse, rapid respiration, weakness, coma uncosciousness, pale mouth, lips and eyelids, coolness of skin and legs, nervousness, staring eyes and dilated pupils.If any or all of these signs occur after an accident or prolonged illness treat as follows and call vet immediately.

  • Keep airways open and give artificial respiration if necessary
  • Keep dog restrained, quiet and warm (wrap in towel or blanket)
  • If dog is unconscious keep head level with or lower than rest of body
